The slag mainly consists of calcium, iron, silicon, magnesium and a small amount of aluminum, manganese, phosphorus and other oxides. In some areas, the slag also contains little titanium and vanadium because of the ore containing those ingredients. Slags are greatly different due to the various components in steel-making furnace, steel furnace steel smelting and each different stage of the smelting process. The approach to dealing with the slag uses the slag and the primary slag as raw materials.
